I first discovered kombucha after a challenging yoga session back in the summer of 2012...sweaty and exhausted, I was handed a cold bottle that instantly assisted recovery - from thereon I was curious about this peppy health drink that had given me such a lift.
Having struggled with food intolerances throughout my life, I became fascinated by the benefits of fermented foods. Later, on a visit to the US, I went to a dedicated kombucha bar in Portland, Oregon and was inspired by the diverse range of flavours and purity of the products on offer.
In 2023, I took the plunge to craft my own brew - pure, small-batch kombucha made with locally sourced honey instead of refined sugar. To further enhance the taste I invested in oak barrels, before building a dedicated microbrewery here in Brighton.

After many test batches, I started selling at markets across Sussex. The response was amazing - kombucha lovers praised the taste, and even sceptics came back for more.
To bring Pop Cultures to life, I teamed up with local creatives to design Brighton-inspired, pop-art labels that reflect the spirit of the city. There's no better place to brew - surrounded by the South Downs, cooled by the sea air, and supported by a community that values health, craft, and local goodness.
I'm now excited to spread the Pop Cultures across Sussex and beyond!
